To get started, do not plug your DualShock 3 in yet. Check this troubleshooting guide for help on removing those files before you begin the installation process. Note: If you've previously installed ScpToolkit on your system or ever used Sony's PSNow streaming service, you may have some leftover files that will interfere with DsHidMini. It's completely usable right now, but as of early 2023 has a new release on the way with even more features. The developer of ScpToolkit sunset the project in 2016, but has since followed it up with the new DsHidMini, a DualShock 3 controller driver specifically built for Windows 10 and 11. For years the go-to solution was ScpToolkit, a free, open source tool that did the job but was a bit of a beast to setup. And if you want to play non-Steam games with the controller, you can add them to Steam with the "Games > Add a non-Steam game to my library" menu.īut presumably you're here because you want to get those analog face buttons working. If you plug the controller in with Steam running, you can then go to Settings > Controller > Desktop Configuration to customize your controls as you see fit. Downpour is just trapped completely. As noted in the intro, keep in mind that Steam has built-in support for the DualShock 3 controller. Homecoming technically is on PC as well but I've heard it's not a great version. You can play them all on Xbox but since you don't have one, they're trapped on PS3. Though Homecoming and Downpour aren't easily available for you. Origins is the only one I actively DISLIKE. Though there's also good stuff in there too. If you didn't want to see everything, you can skip them. So I guess Wii emulation? You may have to do some fiddling to get the audio meant to come out of the wiimote working.Īs for the other ones, Origins, Homecoming, and Downpour. I prefer the PS2 version for lack of waggle but it's rarer and more expensive (and technically inferior). The PS2 version doesn't emulate well at all and the Wii version required you to be able to set up motion control stuff. The less spoiled about it the better but it's a fantastic different take on Silent Hill as a series. Shattered Memories is absolutely worth playing after 1-4. I know there was a recent release on GOG, no idea if it's any good, but PS2 emulation is fine. A lot of interesting ideas that are worth seeing. It's not as good as 1-3 but it's still part of the original run and it was their attempt to be weird and experimental. It might not hit everything it tried to do but has a lot of good ideas on display (Even if stuff like lackluster monster designs kinda hurt it).Ĭlick to shrink.SH4 is worth playing. It's not a perfect game but I consider it the most ambitious out of the western titles barring Shattered Memories. They're moreso there if you want more Silent HIll than having any really interesting story to experience IMO.ĭownpour on the other hand I think is well worth checking out (But sadly, unless you have an Xbox that's basically out of hand unless you get into PS3 Emulation). Homecoming & Origins aren't bad either but more run-of-the-mill. Thankfully that one is on GoG and easy to get a hold of and play.Īfter that, I definitely recommend Shattered Memories (Any Version as it's mostly the same game, just Wii & PS2 have better graphics than PSP and Wii has the Waggle). If you play the first 3 and want more then you'll definitely be recommended SH4 (I haven't played that but 1-4 seem to be what people consider a packaged deal of what needs to be played).
